Is a well-balanced acne diet important for your skin acne treatment? The answer is definitely ‘Yes’. The general well-being of your skin is definitely affected by what you consume each day. If certain nutrients are lacking from your body, it might lead to some reactions from your body system and an acne outbreak is one such symptom. You skin is also an organ of the human body and just like your other organs such as your liver, heart, kidneys, lungs, etc, it also need nutrients to grow well.
You might already be well-aware that whole grain foods are good for your heart. Similarly, there are certain nutrients that will help your skin to grow well. Some examples of such nutrients are chromium, selenium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, zinc as well as EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids). If you constantly consume foods which contain such nutrients, your skin will be well-fed and it will clear up. Since you are clearing your acne problem from the inside of your body, you will have a permanent effect.
As such, does a Western diet affect your acne problem? Once again, your answer is another ‘Yes’. This is because the Western diet usually contain very little of the nutrients useful for your skin growth. Americans, especially teenagers, tend to indulge in unhealthy foods that are high in sugar content, carbohydrates, saturated fats but low in proteins and other beneficial vitamins and minerals which will help to give you’re a healthy body, including a healthy skin.
On the hind side, it is only fair to mention that contrary to what many other folks believe, it is not proven that food will cause pimple outbreaks. The food that you consume, unhealthy as they might be, do not cause your acne problems. When the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum which attaches itself to the dead skin cells, acne outbreaks occur. What is actually proven scientifically is that when certain nutrients are lacking from your body, you will not get a healthy skin growth. Thus, the lack of nutrients in your body does contribute to your acne problems, but they are not the direct cause of acne outbreaks.
Therefore, you should have a balanced acne diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, whole grains and shellfish. This will greatly help in your skin acne treatment although it does not guarantee 100% that you will be totally acne free, especially not overnight. However, having a balanced diet will ensure that you have a healthier body and a healthier skin over time.
